Serbia Committed to Further Improvement of Cooperation with Caribbean Countries
The summit was dedicated to vital topics for the development of this region, especially the fight against the negative effects of climate change, strengthening the Association's role in the world, economic recovery, tourism development, ocean protection and other important issues.
In addition to the meeting with General Secretary of the Association, Rodolfo Sabonge, the Republic of Serbia delegation, which has observer status in the Association of Caribbean States, had the opportunity to hold a series of bilateral meetings with high and top officials of member countries and observers, among which were the host country Guatemala, and Honduras , Guyana, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Belize, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Argentina, Venezuela, Barbados, the Bahamas, as well as with officials of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Slovenia. They exchanged their views on the current state of bilateral relations and the possibilities for further improvement of cooperation both on a bilateral and multilateral level.
During the course of the Summit, State Secretary, Ambassador Goran Aleksić, was also received by President of the Republic of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, on which occasion it was noted that the level of bilateral relations and friendly ties between our two countries was exceptionally high. During the talks, President Giammattei expressed his deep condolences and sincere solidarity with the state leadership and the people of the Republic of Serbia, over the recent tragic events at "Vladislav Ribnikar" school and in Mladenovac.
