Minister Dačić meets Special Representative of the UNSG and Head of UNMIK

10. Apr 2023.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dačić, met earlier today with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK, Caroline Ziadeh.

The topic of the meeting was the last six-monthly Report of the Secretary-General on UNMIK to be discussed in the upcoming session of the UN Security Council on UNMIK   on 27 April 2023.

FDPM and MFA Dačić indicated the importance we attach to the UN and the engagement of UNMIK on all issues of significance for consistent implementation of the UN SC Resolution 1244, as well as the status-neutral engagement of the UN in Kosovo and Metohija. He expressed concern with regard to the current security and political situation in the Province, particularly in the context of frequent incidents against Serbs in K&M and unilateral actions by Pristina, which further increase tension. During the meeting, expectations from the recent agreements reached in the dialogue on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina were discussed as well. FDPM and MFA Ivica Dačić emphasised that Serbia is committed to dialogue as the only way for the normalisation of relations, but that the essence is in respecting the previously agreed. In this context, he emphasised that there is still no progress in the fulfilment of obligations undertaken by the other party, especially when it comes to creating the Community of Serb Municipalities, and once again pointed to our red lines in the Dialogue.

Caroline Ziadeh thanked for the support provided to UNMIK and expressed her hope that the good cooperation will continue in the future as well.
