12. Oct 2021.
The third exhibition of paintings by Slovak naive painters from Serbia is being held at the European Commission headquarters, under the auspices of European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Maja Gojković.

The introductory words at the presentation of the exhibition were given by the Minister of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue of the Republic of Serbia, Gordana Čomić, and the Vice President of the European Commission, Šefčovič.

Minister Čomić emphasized the importance of culture and diversity in building the European community of peoples and underlined that the images of Slovak naives represent the beauty of the world, which belongs to everyone, not just the Slovak community in Serbia, where they live, or the European Union.

The Vice President of the European Commission pointed out that the development of the specific art of Slovak naives is proof that the Slovak minority in Serbia, where they have lived for more than 200 years, "feels at home". He pointed out that he would be happy to support the idea of declaring this art an intangible heritage of UNESCO.

The reception, which was held on that occasion, was attended by the EU Special Representative for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and the Western Balkans, Miroslav Lajčak, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the EU, Ana Hrustanović.
