Political relations

Bilateral relations are good. Mutual interest was expressed for cooperation in the field of developing e-Government in the Republic of Serbia (Estonia is a leader in the field of digitalisation).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Sven Mikser visited the Republic of Serbia on 25 April 2017.

 

Economic relations

Foreign trade exchange is modest in scope, with a deficit on the Serbian side. During the period January—February 2021 the trade in goods amounted to 3,5 million euros (exports at 1,4 million euros, imports at 2,1 million euros). During the 2020 the trade in goods amounted to 18,80 million euros, with exports amounting to 7,86 million euros and imports to 10,94 million euros.

The largest exporters from the Republic of Serbia include: Feniksbus, Serbpackaging, Tetra Pak Production Ltd, Grenier JP Packaging Ltd, Dimmetal, Alfa Plam, Jat Tehnika, Forma Ideale Ltd, Europolis Plus, Sojaprotein Bečej, etc. while the largest importers from Estonia are: Henkel Srbija Ltd, Kej Ltd, IM Matijević, Vasović Čačak, Principal Duo, Dumeko, Banat trans Ltd, Delhaize Srbija Ltd, C-Group, Zarf Group Ltd, etc.

 

Bilateral agreements

There are six bilateral agreements in force, with the following being of particular importance:

  • Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and Estonia on the avoidance of double taxation regarding income tax,
  • Protocol between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Government of the Republic of Estonia on the implementation of the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the European Community on the readmission of illegal residents,
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Estonia,
  • Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Estonia on cooperation in the field of education, culture and sports.
