Political relations
Bilateral relations with Cyprus are developed and intensive with continuous political dialogue at all levels. The Minister of Foreign Affairs N. During 2018, the Second Joint Session of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus was held in Nicosia presided by the President of the Republic of Serbia A. Vučić and the President of the Republic of Cyprus N. Anastasiades. In May 2018, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, N. Anastasiades, paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
Economic relations
In the period January-July 2022. the total exchange amounted to 19.8 million euros, with our exports amounting 16.1 million euros, while imports reached 3.69 million euros. In 2021, trade between Serbia and Cyprus amounted 33.2 million euros, of which imports were 6.3 million. euros, and exports 26.9 million euros. In 2020, trade between Serbia and Cyprus amounted to 58.3 million euros, of which imports were 4.5 million euros, and exports 53.7 million euros. In 2019, trade between Serbia and Cyprus amounted to 45.5 million euros, of which imports were 4.7 million euros, and exports 40.7 million euros.
According to the NBS, in the period from 2010-2021 inflows of residents of Cyprus in the Republic Serbia amount about 526.9 million. euros, which ranks it 15th among the countries from which the most investments came in the mentioned period.
Bilateral agreements
There are 34 agreements in effect. We would single out the following:
- Agreement between the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Republic of Cyprus on Legal Aid in Civil and Criminal matters (signed on 19 September 1984).
- Agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and the Socialist Federal Republic of Serbia for the Avoidance of Double Taxation with Respect of Taxes on Income and on Capital (signed on 29 June 1985).
- Convention between Serbia and Montenegro and the Republic of Cyprus on Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments Serbia (signed on 21 July 2005).
- Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus (signed on 23 February 2009).
- Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus on cooperation in the Field of Defence (signed on 10 February 2010).
