ENTRY REGIME FOR CITIZENS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Citizens of Serbia may enter Somalia. Fully vaccinated travelers can enter Somalia with а proof of vaccination issued by a competent authority.

If passenger is not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate with a QR code from an authorized service provider (taken no more than 72 hours to arrival at the final destination) is required for entry into Somalia.

International arrivals displaying signs and symptoms of COVID-19 may be requested to undergo rapid antigen testing, and be quarantined in a hotel at their own cost, if they test positive.

 

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY

Citizens of the Republic of Serbia require a visa for entering Somalia. Having in mind that the Embassy of Somalia in the Russian Federation covers the Republic of Serbia on a non-residential basis, consult the website of their Embassy in Moscow: https://www.embassypages.com/missions/embassy23079/. When submitting a visa request, the duration of validity of the passport for tourist travel must be at least 6 months, and the same conditions apply for regulating residence.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION – We advise checking the current health situation before travelling, on the website of the World Health Organization, Regional Office for Africa: www.afro.who.int/health-topics, and the website of the World Health Organization www.who.int. Only bottled water is used for drinking.

SECURITY SITUATION – The security situation has been unstable for decades, further deteriorating due to the continuous activities of the Al-Shabaab terrorist organisation. We do not advise citizens of the Republic of Serbia to travel to Somalia, unless in dire need. In such cases, staying in hotels within the airport security zone is recommended.

TRANSPORT – Flights are only available through the international airport in the capital of Mogadishu.

OTHER – The national currency of Somalia is the Somali shilling (SOS), while the most frequently used currency is USD, mainly in the form of 20-dollar bills.
