Starović: The significance of the visit of the President of Egypt
Starović highlighted that from 1955 to 1987, 31 presidential visits were recorded, with Josip Broz Tito's visits to Egypt, but also Presidents Nasser, Sadat and Mubarak visits to Belgrade.
“Unfortunately, in the previous 35 years, no president of Egypt has visited Serbia, but that is not the case today." Starović told Tanjug.
Starović specified that as many as 13 agreements and declarations in different fields will be signed during President el-Sisi's visit. In addition, an important economic forum will take place as part of the programme of the visit, which will bring together more than 130 companies from Egypt and Serbia.
“We are on an upward trajectory, but it is essential that such a development of political relations be accompanied by increased economic cooperation and trade," said Starović and expressed his belief that the end result of the visit will be the improvement of economic relations and the increase in trade, and investments.
Starović said that Egypt is in a strong economic and investment momentum, and that this is best reflected in the interest of all large and powerful European and world countries in intensifying cooperation with Cairo.
“We use our deep historical ties and our friendship as an excellent base for everything we want to build in the future, and the potentials are so great," Starović said.
