Selakovic: Strong friendship and traditionally close ties between Serbia and Russia

On the margins of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic had talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

Minister Selakovic stated with pleasure that the relations between Serbia and Russia were exceptionally good, developed and particularly strengthened through the strategic partnership, and that our peoples and countries were bound by historical friendship and brotherly closeness. He emphasized that regular meetings at the highest and high levels greatly contributed to the dynamic political cooperation.

Selakovic said that the excellent relationship between Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Vladimir Putin made a major contribution to bilateral cooperation, recalling in particular the latest meeting between the two Presidents in Sochi.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy took the opportunity to reiterate gratitude to Russia for its firm and consistent stance on Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for its strong support in international organizations.

Selakovic informed his collocutor about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the position of the Serbian people in the province.

The current situation in the region was also discussed.

The Ministers exchanged information on the fight against the coronavirus, and expressed satisfaction with the joint production of "Sputnik V" vaccines at the Torlak Institute.
