Selaković: Important visit for planning further activities within cooperation between Serbia and Romania
The Minister said that it was a very important visit, that being the first official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia to Romania in nine years, and that it was agreed with Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu to carry out a series of activities by the end of the year.
„One of the planned activities is a session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation, as well as of the Intergovernmental Committee for National Minorities,“ Selaković said, adding that in the meantime an agreement on opening cultural centres in Serbia and Romania would be prepared.
Selaković mentioned that he signed two agreements with Minister Aurescu, which, as he stated, were very important for the enhancement of bilateral cooperation.
Selaković also said that they discussed two important supports of Romania, i.e. the support for Serbia's EU path, as well as the principled support for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Minister Selaković stated that he informed his interlocutors about the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, as well as that he reaffirmed Serbia's clear commitment, which was to reach a compromise solution.
Emphasising that Romania was Serbia's old neighbour, a friendly nation with which it shared relations of mutual respect and appreciation, Selaković pointed out that all that has been reflected in a very good economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
As he noted, the development of such cooperation would allow investments in joint infrastructure projects.
„On Friday, Minister Momirović signed an agreement with his Romanian homologue that will enable start of the design work for a highway connecting Belgrade and Timisoara,“ Selaković said, adding that the revival of railway traffic, cooperation in the field of energy as well as tourism were also discussed.
„We have opened many important topics, outlined in advance the path our relations should follow, and specific meetings of line ministers should be planned,“ Selaković concluded.
