Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic had talks today with Ambassador of Slovakia to Serbia Fedor Rosocha.

Selakovic noted that the relations between Serbia and Slovakia were traditionally good and friendly, without open issues, and assessed that they needed to be strengthened further by maintaining the intensity of meetings at the top and high political levels.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy reminded of the open invitation extended to President of Slovakia Zuzana Čaputová for a visit to Serbia, and stated that such visit would give additional impetus to the further promotion of all forms of cooperation between Serbia and Slovakia.

Selakovic also expressed satisfaction with the upcoming visit of his counterpart, Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok, to Serbia in the first half of February.

The Minister expressed gratitude for the consistent and continuous support of Slovakia to our country on its European path and added that Serbia expected Slovakia to continue to advocate for our reform efforts being properly valorized in the EU. He reiterated that our country remained fully committed to European integration and full membership of the EU, as the strategic foreign policy goal of Serbia.

Minister Selakovic expressed special gratitude for the consistent and principled position of Slovakia on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and pointed out that Serbia was committed to the normalization of relations with Pristina, namely reaching a compromise solution that would be sustainable and acceptable to both sides.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the high level of political relations between the two countries was matched by progress in the development of bilateral economic cooperation, recording a constant growth of economic exchange.

Selakovic pointed out that there was great potential for the further enhancement of economic relations and invited Slovak investors to increase their presence on our market in the coming period, especially in the context of mutual economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic.
