12. May 2024.
Today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Marko Djuric welcomed 50 Master's and PhD students from Harvard University.

Wishing them a welcome, Minister Djuric said that he was pleased that the students were starting to get to know the Balkans by visiting our country in particular.

“You have arrived at a time when our country is being talked about in superlatives. With a firm and clear commitment to EU membership and further strengthening of its international image based on concrete results, merits and success, Serbia is the undisputed leader in the region in terms of economic and infrastructural development”, the Minister said opening his address.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also assessed that study visits like this one were of essential importance, not only for presenting the political and economic situation in Serbia, our priorities on the foreign and domestic front, but also the plans and activities of our country in the coming period, especially in the areas of IT industry, economy, biotechnology and artificial intelligence.

“Such visits are an opportunity for you, young professionals and experts, to get to know first-hand our state apparatus and the functioning of institutions, but also our people and the hospitality for which we are known in the world”, Minister Djuric added.

The study trip of students from Harvard is realized for the second time as part of the Balkan Trek programme, and brings together participants from over 20 countries from all continents other than Africa, the most numerous among them being students from the United States, China and India.

The students will stay in our region until 19 May, and after Serbia, they will also visit Montenegro and Albania.
