Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today in Berlin, during the ministerial meeting of the Berlin Process, with head of Hungarian diplomacy Péter Szijjártó.

In the talks, the Ministers affirmed the excellent friendly relations between the two countries, which, according to their assessment, have reached the highest level of bilateral cooperation in modern history.

Minister Đurić expressed his gratitude for the strong and continuous support that Hungary provided to Serbia in its European integration process.

He emphasized that Serbia was committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region, and noted that this was a necessary precondition for its political and economic development.

Đurić expressed his appreciation for Hungary's understanding of the sensitivity that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija holds for Serbia, reminding of the gross violations of the human, political, and economic rights of Serbs in the southern province.

The collocutors agreed that economic cooperation between the two countries was developing very dynamically, with Đurić noting that last year, Serbia for the first time achieved a trade surplus with Hungary.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also highlighted the good cooperation in the areas of energy and infrastructure projects, expressing satisfaction with the completion of the reconstruction and modernization of the Belgrade-Novi Sad high-speed railway section, i.e., the first segment of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway.
