Minister Djuric confers with UNDP Resident Representative in Serbia

Minister Djuric pointed out that the United Nations was one of the most important partners of the Republic of Serbia, and that UNDP was one of the key factors in that partnership, especially in the context of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.

According to the Minister, one of the brightest segments of our cooperation was the “Returning Point” programme, which with its goals, namely the promotion of circular migration, was beneficial in multiple ways and complementary to the efforts made by the Serbian Government in connecting, returning, and contributing to the overall development of the country by young people. 

The head of Serbian diplomacy, referring to today's 25th anniversary of the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, reminded that this document guarantees the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, of which Kosovo and Metohija is an integral part. 

In this context, the Minister underlined the importance of respecting the principles of international law and preserving status neutrality when it comes to the designation of the so-called Kosovo in all regional projects and platforms taking place under the auspices of UNDP, i.e., the significance of consistent adherence to the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1244. 

As our side reiterated its support for the activity of UNDP and aspiration for closer cooperation, the interlocutors discussed the opportunities for new joint projects that would contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals and further affirm Serbia as a stakeholder pursuing regional development and stability.
