09. Nov 2023.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia Álvaro Leyva Durán, on the fringes of the 42nd UNESCO General Conference in Paris.

The interlocutors discussed opportunities for the further development of bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest, primarily through the enhancement of political, economic and trade cooperation.

Willingness was expressed to promote the political dialogue through more frequent mutual visits of high-ranking officials, as well as through the holding of bilateral political consultations between the two Foreign Ministries, on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year.

Minister Dacic took the opportunity to invite his Colombian counterpart to an official visit to Belgrade, which would also serve as a preparation for a presidential visit.

The collocutors underlined the importance of cooperation at the multilateral level, in international organizations, such as UNESCO, but also in regional organizations of the Western Hemisphere in which Serbia participated (OAS, ACS, Pacific Alliance). Minister of Foreign Affairs Dacic underlined that we would highly value the support of Colombia to Serbia's candidacy for re-election to the UNESCO Executive Board for the period 2023-2027.
