First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic summoned today Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Dominic Otway, to a meeting regarding the statement by British MP and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the British Parliament Alicia Kearns, who, in her presentation in the British Parliament, accused the Serbian Orthodox Church of smuggling weapons.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dacic rejected such accusations and expressed deep concern over Kearns’ claims that weapons are being smuggled through administrative crossings from Serbia to Orthodox churches in Kosovo and Metohija in ambulance vehicles.
Due to the gravity of the claims, he underscored that the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was acting with full seriousness and responsibility and that it expected more information and urgent verification of the claims by the British side as well as by other relevant bodies, including the KFOR mission.
The Serbian Foreign Minister emphasized that Serbia would always react to such claims, protecting its state and national interests.
