Improving bilateral cooperation with the Czech Republic
In an open and cordial conversation, the interlocutors discussed issues in the field of bilateral political and economic cooperation, the process of European integration of the Republic of Serbia and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
Noting that close and friendly relations between Serbia and the Czech Republic have a long historical tradition, State Secretary Starović expressed interest in their further improvement.
He expressed his belief that the continuous political dialogue at the highest level, especially the recent, extremely successful official visit of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić to the Czech Republic, realized from May 17 to 19 this year, especially contributed to that.
They also exchanged views on the current economic situation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the potential for strengthening bilateral economic and investment activities, for which there is potential on both sides.
The interlocutors agreed that in the coming period they will be working on intensifying economic contacts in order to implement and operationalize some of the specific economic projects.
State Secretary Starović thanked the Czech Republic for its support for the European integration of the Republic of Serbia. He also informed the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic about current economic developments in Serbia, numerous ongoing infrastructure projects, as well as priority topics within the framework of improving regional economic cooperation.
First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Pavel Jaroš said that the Czech Republic will continue to support Serbia's European integration process, and that the EU enlargement process will be one of the priorities of the Czech presidency of the EU Council in the second half of 2022.
At the end of the conversation, the interlocutors agreed with the assessment that the bilateral relations between Serbia and the Czech Republic are extremely good, noting that there is still a lot of room for their improvement, especially in the fields of economy, culture, education and tourism.
