First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dacic meets with the newly-appointed Ambassador of Japan

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today the newly-appointed Ambassador of Japan Akira Imamura, who recently presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy extended a warm welcome to the Japanese Ambassador, with wishes for a successful tenure and a pleasant stay in our country.

He said that he was pleased with the very good bilateral relations and an upward trajectory of cooperation, expressing his belief that the newly-appointed Ambassador would continue intensive activities aimed at further comprehensive promotion of Serbia-Japan cooperation and added that the Serbian Foreign Ministry was ready to provide him with full assistance and support to that end.

Expressing satisfaction with the very long tradition of cooperation between Serbia and Japan - which marked the 140th anniversary of their friendship in 2022 – both sides agreed that contemporary bilateral Serbia-Japan relations were on a constant upward trajectory and that the two countries were connected by a joint interest in the further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation with substantial and intensive mutual contacts at the bilateral and multilateral levels.

Minister Dacic and Ambassador Imamura underlined the interest in further connecting the economies of the two countries through the strengthening of trade and other forms of cooperation, with special emphasis on increasing Japanese investments in Serbia.
