The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, today received a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, led by the Committee's President, Nikoloz Samkharadze, who is visiting Serbia for several days.

Noting the traditionally friendly and close ties with Georgia, Đurić emphasized that Serbia is committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

He pointed out that Serbia and Georgia share strong political relations, united by many similarities in tradition, values, culture, and the mentality of their peoples.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to Georgia for its consistent respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, while also conveying that Serbia unequivocally supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

In this regard, Đurić emphasized that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija is not only a matter of territory, but also of national identity, and that Belgrade will continue to be a constructive party in the dialogue with Pristina.

On the other hand, Đurić stressed that Belgrade will continue to insist on the implementation of previously agreed-upon agreements as mechanisms to ensure the political, economic, and other rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

According to the Serbian Foreign Minister, Serbia remains committed to preserving peace and stability in the region, which is a fundamental precondition for further economic and overall development of the Western Balkans.

Congratulating Georgia on its economic successes in recent years, Đurić noted that Serbia has also doubled its GDP over the past decade and that there is significant potential for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the economic sector.
