23. Jul 2024.
During his official visit to Italy, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met with representatives of the Italy-Serbia Group of Friends of the Italian Parliament.

On that occasion, Minister Djuric noted that this year Serbia and Italy were marking 145 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations and 15 years of strategic partnership.

Djuric assessed that parliamentary cooperation was an important channel of communication between the two countries, noting that the parliaments of Serbia and Italy maintained firm and friendly relations, which needed to be further strengthened and deepened.

He pointed out that today’s Serbia is focused on strengthening its economy, building highways and railways and improving the living standard of its citizens.

He reminded that in the last 48 hours alone, two Italian factories were opened in Serbia, which was a demonstration of a high intensity of economic cooperation.

When it comes to foreign policy, Djuric said that full membership of the EU remained our strategic priority, and he thanked friendly Italy for its support in the process of Serbia's European integration.

Regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the Minister said that there had been no progress in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina for a long time due to the unilateral decisions of Kurti's policy. He added that our side desired to remain a constructive partner, but that it would continue to insist on the implementation of the agreements reached.

The head of Serbian diplomacy concluded that, with the admission of Serbia to the EU, the European family would gain an additional value in all areas and a reliable partner.
