Djuric: Full EU membership remains our strategic priority

07. May 2024.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric had talks today with Head of EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret.

Minister Djuric pointed out that full membership of the European Union was a strategic priority for the new Serbian Government, as a government of continuity, and that Serbia respected European values and was willing to contribute to common prosperity and peace in Europe.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also explained that our foreign policy would be based on state and national interests, but that it would also be a policy of an extended hand and cooperation with friends and partners in the world.

According to Minister Djuric, Serbia intended to approach cooperation with the EU with a renewed energy, while working to change the perception of our country in many member states.

The Minister stated that Serbia had an unequivocal economic interest in cooperating even more closely with the EU, since the EU was our biggest partner both when it comes to the export of goods and services and when it comes to the inflow of foreign direct investments.

Minister Djuric also assessed that the good relations that Serbia maintained with numerous non-European countries could be a common political and economic resource for Serbia and the EU.
