Đurić confers with the new EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue

14. Feb 2025.
On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met with the newly appointed EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Peter Sorensen.

Expressing satisfaction with today's meeting, Đurić congratulated Sorensen on his appointment, emphasizing its significance for both Serbia and the region as a whole.

The head of Serbian diplomacy highlighted that Belgrade expects good cooperation with the Special Representative and that Serbia will continue to be a constructive partner in the dialogue. He also expressed hope for an upcoming meeting in Belgrade.

During the discussion, Đurić pointed out the extremely difficult position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, noting that Pristina persistently refuses to fulfill the obligations undertaken by the Brussels Agreement. He added that the regime of Albin Kurti has openly stated that it does not want to allow the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities—a key element of the First Brussels Agreement.

Belgrade, Đurić emphasized, expects that the engagement of the EU Special Representative will be directed towards creating conditions for the implementation of the agreed terms and a productive dialogue in the process of normalizing relations.

Serbia is interested in the progress and development of all communities in the region, as highlighted by Minister Đurić during the conversation.
