Đurić confers with Al Nahyan on Strengthening the Strategic Partnership between Serbia and the UAE

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today in Abu Dhabi with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

The two foreign ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, the implementation of which will significantly contribute to intensifying and institutionalizing the dialogue between the two ministries of foreign affairs.

Emphasizing that the two countries have reached the highest level of bilateral relations, embodied in their strategic partnership, Minister Đurić noted that the personal relationship and friendship between President Aleksandar Vučić and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan constitute the foundation of the excellent relations between Serbia and the UAE and chart the course for further cooperation between the two countries.

According to Minister Đurić, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which entered into force several months ago, will provide new momentum for strengthening economic and trade ties, contribute to continued growth in foreign trade, attract investments, and spur the initiation of new joint projects.

Recalling Serbia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, which proved to be beneficial in multiple respects, Minister Đurić highlighted that the UAE’s participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade is very welcome news for Serbia, and expressed hope for an exchange of experiences and best practices with Emirati partners in organizing such large-scale international events.

Inviting His Highness to visit Belgrade in the period ahead, Minister Đurić underscored that such a visit would not only reaffirm the closeness of the two nations but also provide an additional opportunity for discussions on expanding the strategic partnership in areas of mutual interest.
