Đurić and Konrad: Further strengthening cooperation in all areas
Minister Đurić emphasized that Germany is a crucial bilateral partner for Serbia—not only in the economic sphere, as Serbia’s most significant trading partner—but also as a country that plays an important role in supporting Serbia’s European integration process and influencing other areas of mutual interest.
Both sides underlined the positive impact of the projects already implemented, as well as those planned within the framework of the Berlin Process. Minister Đurić reaffirmed Serbia’s readiness to make an even greater contribution in the future to achieving the objectives of this initiative, launched by the Government of Germany in 2014, which aims to enhance cooperation among the Western Balkan states and bring the region closer to the European Union.
In reference to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Đurić underscored the need for a regular and orderly transition of power in all municipalities following the recent local elections. Both sides agreed that achieving progress in the dialogue on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina—currently stalled due to the months-long deadlock in forming a new Government of the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government in Pristina—is of vital importance for the stability of the region.
Minister Đurić also informed Ambassador Konrad about Serbia’s efforts to ensure energy stability and diversification of energy supply, stressing that these are issues of crucial importance not only for Serbia but for the wider region as well.
