Dacic meets with WOAH Regional Representative for Europe Budimir Plavsic
The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Organisation for Animal Health, as well as topics within the competence of this organization, including the issues of animal welfare, food safety and control of infectious diseases.
Foreign Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic said that the Ministry fully supported the work of this organization, as well as the harmonization of Serbian standards with international standards in the field of infectious disease control, stressing that compliance with animal health and welfare standards was essential for ensuring safe trade, public health and economic growth within and beyond the borders of a country.
WOAH Regional Representative for Europe Budimir Plavsic underlined that the Organisation recognized the importance of the Republic of Serbia as one of the key countries in the region for cooperation aimed at enhancing animal health and standards for the control of infectious diseases, taking into account that animal health was fundamentally linked with our health.
He also pointed out that this organization was working to create a substantial network of people, a solid knowledge base and a set of resources and information that can be easily accessed and shared when facing specific animal health challenges, but also in the context of animal disease prevention and control.
