Arnaud Gouillon invites the Serbian people to visit Jasenovac
18. Jul 2022.
In reaction to Croatia's decision to ban Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić from visiting Jasenovac, the director of the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Arnaud Gouillon invited Serbian people to visit this site.
“The role of the state is to defend the dignity of the people, as well as the right to remembrance and piety.” The state's answer will be clear and unambiguous, but I would like to take this opportunity to address ordinary citizens and invite them to visit Jasenovac.
Every nation has its sacred places, and Jasenovac is one of those places for Serbian people, as a reflection of the terrible suffering during the Second World War.
I was never the same person after visiting this execution site. You will not be the same Serbs after leaving Jasenovac.
Let it be the people's answer to those who want you to forget who you are, where you came from and what you went through as a people," said Guyon.
