Stojanović held a series of meetings on the margins of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council

On the margins of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Nikola Stojanović, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, held a series of bilateral meetings with officials from various countries, discussing opportunities to strengthen cooperation and enhance bilateral relations.

In a meeting with Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, both sides reaffirmed their friendly relations and agreed to intensify economic cooperation through specific projects and programs. State Secretary Stojanović expressed hope that Bahrain would participate in Expo 2027 and presented the process of organizing this important international event.

During a meeting with Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, both parties acknowledged their traditionally friendly relations and expressed mutual willingness to further strengthen them. The possibility of organizing bilateral visits in the near future was also discussed.

Special attention was given to economic cooperation and the prospects of enhancing direct contacts between citizens through educational programs and participation in Expo 2027.

In a discussion with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Marshall Islands, Kalani Kaneko, Stojanović conveyed congratulations on the country’s election to the Human Rights Council. Both sides mutually recognized the significant improvement in cooperation between Serbia and the Marshall Islands since the establishment of diplomatic relations in September 2024, facilitated by numerous meetings between the two ministers. State Secretary Stojanović expressed interest in the Marshall Islands' participation in Expo 2027 and conveyed Serbia's readiness to further deepen cooperation in the multilateral arena.

Stojanović also met with Lounes Magramane, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria. The traditionally friendly relations were confirmed, and there was a mutual willingness to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere. Stojanović expressed gratitude to Algeria for its principled stance and the support it provides to Serbia in multilateral frameworks.

On this occasion, Stojanović also held a meeting with Alejandro Solana Ortiz, the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs of Costa Rica. The two sides exchanged views on foreign policy priorities and topics of mutual interest. State Secretary Stojanović expressed hope that Costa Rica would participate in the specialized Expo 2027 exhibition.

These meetings on the margins of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council represent another step in further strengthening Serbia’s cooperation with partner countries in the global arena, contributing to better mutual understanding and collaboration within multilateral frameworks.
