Stojanović co-chaired meeting on Strategic Priorities for Cooperation between the Government of Serbia and the UN for the 2026–2030 period
The meeting was opened by the Minister for European Integration, Tanja Miščević, and was co-chaired by Stojanović and the UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, Matilde Mort.
Addressing the participants, Stojanović emphasized that today's meeting provides an opportunity for a transparent, inclusive, and comprehensive discussion on past activities, as well as on the vision and future directions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He also highlighted that the Republic of Serbia recognizes the strong connection between the SDGs and the European integration process.
Stojanović recalled that a Interministerial Working Group for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda was recently established, while work is simultaneously being carried out on the nationalization of indicators for tracking progress in achieving the SDGs.
"Through this process, we have identified areas where Serbia has made progress, as well as challenges that require additional efforts. This approach enables us to define priorities more precisely and propose focused areas of cooperation with the UN Team in Serbia," Stojanović stated.
According to him, this approach makes the UN's engagement more concrete, strategic, and impactful, with the results of this cooperation directly contributing to the development of Serbia’s Second National Voluntary Report, which will provide a transparent, data-driven assessment of progress.
Serbia, he further emphasized, is entering a crucial five-year period in which ambition and a strong focus on achieving tangible results will be essential.
"We are pleased not only to be shaping the role of the UN Team in Serbia but also to be contributing to a broader discussion on defining the role of the UN in upper-middle-income countries on a global scale. This is a unique opportunity—both for us as representatives of the Government and for the UN Team in Serbia—to set a precedent and establish best practices that can be applied beyond our borders," Stojanović concluded.
