Serbia pays tribute to victims of the Holocaust

27. Jan 2021.
Today, on 27 January, the Republic of Serbia pays tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and calls for respect for the memory of the victims who perished during the Second World War.

As a member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), the Republic of Serbia actively participates in the work of this organization, thus contributing to the building of an international culture of remembrance for the victims of the most heinous crime of the twentieth century.

The need to continuously recall the horrors of the Holocaust establishes a moral obligation of every individual and society to maintain the memory at an individual and collective level and to ponder on the consequences and legacy of the Holocaust in the modern age.

The Republic of Serbia is one of many democratic countries that, by encouraging the development of educational programs on the history of the Holocaust, seeks to point out the urgent need for the consideration, today and in the future, of the mass killing of Jews in the Second World War as one of the greatest crimes in human history.
