Selaković: Great potential for strengthening friendly ties between Serbia and Libya

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, received today the Ambassador of Libya, Mohamed Omar Atadjiba bin Galbun.

Welcoming the new Libyan ambassador, Minister Selaković expressed his belief that the new ambassador will make a notable contribution to the further strengthening of friendly ties between our two countries.

Pointing out that Serbia and Libya have a decades-long friendship and cooperation, which have been stagnating in the last decade, Selaković said that the upcoming visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Mangoush, will be very important for the continuation of the political dialogue.

He added that Serbia is determined to continue to support the stabilization of the situation in Libya and to further develop overall bilateral cooperation.

Emphasizing the importance of intensifying mutually beneficial economic cooperation, Selaković said that cooperation is currently at a satisfactory level, but that there are many untapped potentials for improvement. He added that Serbia is interested in strengthening cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, tourism and information technology.

In terms of cooperation in the field of education, Minister Selaković stated that Serbia will continue to be a good host to Libyan students.
