On the second day in New York, Minister Selaković spoke with 27 foreign ministers
Minister Selaković had short or long meetings with as many as 27 Ministers of Foreign Affairs in one day. Topics discussed included bilateral cooperation matters, as well as the current geopolitical matters.
His long bilateral meetings were with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Santa Lucia, Malta, Armenia, Senegal, Somalia, Kuwait, Georgia, Laos and Costa Rica.
Those meetings were opportunities to state concrete proposals for improving bilateral cooperation, as well as exchange information and views on the biggest international challenges of today, such as the crisis in food and energy supply.
One of the dominant topics in yesterday’s talks was the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, and Serbia’s efforts to, in accordance with the international law, achieve the protection of its state and national interests by peaceful political means.
During this eventful day in New York, two more international agreements were signed: one on the cooperation in the field of sports with Kuwait, and one on the cooperation in the field of agriculture with Senegal.
Minister Selaković was also invited to participate in the meeting entitled “Young Foreign Ministers”, hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. At the meeting, ten foreign ministers talked about their experiences and the role of successful new generation politicians in creating peaceful and stabile geopolitical relations.
In addition to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the host, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, participants in the meeting included ministers from Hungary, Czech Republic, Qatar, Canada, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Panama...
Minister Selaković finished the second working day in New York with a trilateral working dinner with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece and Cyprus.
