Kozarev confers with Swiss Parliamentarian Theiler to discuss bilateral cooperation

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met today with Heinz Theiler, Member of the Swiss Parliament, for discussions on cooperation between the two countries, as well as current regional and global challenges.

The meeting expressed satisfaction with the overall state of bilateral relations, the continuous political dialogue, and the implementation of high-level visits. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening relations and cooperation at all levels.

The interlocutors paid particular attention to the strong economic cooperation, with Secretary-General Kozarev noting that Switzerland is among the leading investors in Serbia and pointing to the upward trend of Serbian companies expanding their presence in Switzerland. He also underlined that the Serbian diaspora in Switzerland represents an important bridge connecting the two countries and adds a superior quality to bilateral ties.

Kozarev highlighted the economic results and achievements Serbia has secured since 2012, reaffirming the country’s aspiration to build a modern, inclusive, and prosperous society. He emphasized that Serbia’s strategic objective remains membership in the European Union, and stressed that the current Government has set the goal of completing all required legislative and institutional reforms for EU accession by the end of 2026.

The discussion also touched on the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation as a key segment in strengthening bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on the role of parliamentary friendship groups.

The meeting was also attended by Nicolas Ramseyer, President and Co-Founder of the Geneva Centre for Neutrality, and the Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia, Anne Lugon-Moulin.
