Jovanović: Strengthening trust and cooperation in Southeast Europe

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, took part in an informal working luncheon within the framework of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), held in New York on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

State Secretary Jovanović emphasized the importance of SEECP as a comprehensive and inclusive regional forum, which for three decades has contributed to dialogue, stability, and cooperation in Southeast Europe.

She underlined that Serbia remains firmly committed to strengthening regional ties, pursuing a policy of good neighborly relations and deepening mutual trust, as well as advancing the process of European integration, which it recognizes as a common objective for the entire Western Balkans region. In this context, she particularly highlighted the value of dialogue, cooperation, and multilateralism as lasting principles that guide Serbia’s actions.

The State Secretary also recalled the importance of economic connectivity, the development of infrastructure projects, the strengthening of trade and energy cooperation, as well as initiatives that foster innovation and sustainable development. She stressed that it is in the common interest of the Southeast European region to create, through stability and partnership, the conditions for long-term development and prosperity for its citizens.
