Ivančić participated in the meeting of the US-Adriatic Charter in Zagreb

In her address, Ivančić pointed out that even during the pandemic, Serbia showed its commitment to promoting regional cooperation and solidarity. She pointed out the importance of deepening regional cooperation, especially in the current conditions of the blurred perspective of EU membership, noting the importance of the "Open Balkans" initiative. Ivančić emphasized that this initiative has multiple importance, both economically and politically, and that it remains open to all other actors in the region.

She said that Serbia would continue to position itself on the international scene as a credible partner and exporter of security in the region, which develops relations with all partners and respects all its neighbors, as well as consistently pursues a policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

She especially pointed out three important anniversaries that Serbia is marking this year – 15 years of membership in NATO's Partnership for Peace program, 140 years of establishing diplomatic relations with the United States, as well as 15 years of successful implementation of the cooperation program with the Ohio National Guard. In that regard, she emphasized the common interest of Serbia and NATO for further improvement of partnership cooperation, in order to preserve peace and stability in the region, as well as Serbia's commitment to further strengthening overall relations with the United States.

Ambassador Ivančić underlined that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija is the biggest political and security challenge for Serbia and a very important segment of Serbia's dialogue with NATO. She stressed that dialogue and implementation of the agreements are the only possible way to reach a lasting and sustainable solution, backed by the international community and the UN Security Council, which would contribute to the stability and progress of the entire region.

"All open issues from the past, but also the present, should and must be resolved responsibly, to understand the positions of others and to find ways to reach agreed solutions that will be sustainable, and most importantly, in the interest of all our citizens and regional peace and stability", concluded Ambassador Ivančić.

The members of the US-Adriatic Charter (A5) are the United States, Albania, Croatia, Northern Macedonia, B&H and Montenegro, and Serbia participates in the meetings of this regional security initiative as an observer.
