FDPM and MFA Dačić with Hungarian Foreign Minister in the margins of CEI

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, in the margins of the Ministerial Meeting of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Sofia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Szijjártó first of all congratulated to his Serbian counterpart assumption to new office, wishing him much success in performing this responsible duty.

Two Ministers discussed the improvement of overall bilateral relations and economic ties between the two countries, as well as the importance of strengthening regional cooperation through initiatives, such as CEI.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dačić expressed his satisfaction with regular contacts of the two countries; he also said that relations between Serbia and Hungary are at the highest level thanks to intensive exchange of visits of the officials of the two countries, and that these relations are based on strategic partnership and sincere mutual support and friendship.

Dačić also emphasised that Serbia is committed to the development of good neighbourly relations with the surrounding countries.

Two Ministers discussed the continued improvement of economic ties between Serbia and Hungary, ever more intensive cooperation in the energy field as well as implementation of joint infrastructure projects.

As far as the significance of strengthening of regional cooperation through initiatives such as CEI is concerned, they emphasised that economic cooperation is a good way to make overall progress in the region.

Serbian Foreign Minister once again expressed gratitude to Hungary for its support to Serbia in the European integration process, and informed his interlocutor on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the position of our people in the Serbian Southern Province.

At the end, Hungarian Foreign Minister took the opportunity to invite his Serbian counterpart to an official bilateral visit to Hungary.
