Consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania

Consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania were held today in Belgrade.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was headed by Ambassador Nataša Rašević, the Acting Assistant Minister for Consular Affairs, while the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania was led by Irina Darie, Head of the Consular Affairs Department.

During the consultations, it was jointly assessed that the state of bilateral consular relations is good, with no significant outstanding issues, and that cooperation is progressing in a mutually satisfactory manner.

The two sides exchanged experiences in the consular field, particularly regarding the provision of legal assistance to their nationals abroad, with a special focus on the protection of minors' rights, as well as emergency and extraordinary situations.

Opportunities for further enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest were discussed, including the potential need to update existing agreements or conclude new ones in the consular field. Special attention was devoted to the organization and modernization of consular services, with experiences shared in this regard.

It was noted that the diplomatic and consular missions of both countries maintain high-quality and substantive cooperation with the competent authorities of the receiving state. It was agreed that the next round of consular consultations will be held in Bucharest.
