Bilateral Political Consultations between Serbia and Turkmenistan

Bilateral political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, headed by State Secretary Damjan Jović and Deputy Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, were held today in Belgrade.

The discussions focused on the overall bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on strengthening political dialogue and further enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Special attention was devoted to opportunities for intensifying economic and investment cooperation, as well as expanding ties in the fields of education, culture, and tourism, including activities marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026.

The interlocutors also reviewed cooperation within multilateral forums of which both countries are members and exchanged views on key international and regional issues, along with mutual briefings on the foreign policy priorities of the two states.

State Secretary Jović expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan’s consistent and principled support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia. He informed his counterparts of the extremely difficult situation faced by the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija, who are exposed to daily persecution, institutional violence, and violations of their fundamental human rights.
