Yerevan: Laying of wreaths at the monument to the perished Serbian pilots

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Armenia Tatjana Panajotović Cvetković laid a wreath at the „Broken Wing“ monument in the town of Arshaluys near Yerevan, erected in memory of the seven Serbian pilots who lost their lives in a plane crash 34 years ago during the delivery of humanitarian aid of SFRY after the devastating earthquake that hit Armenia in 1988.

The commemorative event was attended by about fifteen representatives of the MFA of Armenia, the Armavir province, the local community and Serbian diaspora, and wreaths were laid on the monument to the Serbian pilots by Head of the EU Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ara Margaryan, Head of Department for Local Self-Government of Armavir Province Gor Hovhannisyan and representatives of the local community.

The Ambassador addressed the audience and pointed out that Serbian heroes and their tragic humanitarian mission have become a symbol of solidarity and friendship of the Serbian and Armenian people.

She thanked Armenia for preserving with dignity the memory of Serbian pilots and for taking care of the memorial, which has a special status in Armavir province.
