Tokyo: Lecture on Serbia at Toyo Eiwa University
Ambassador Kovač spoke about the historical development and culture of Serbia, from the time of migration of Serbs to the Balkan Peninsula to the present day. She particularly referred to the cultural and religious heritage, as well as Serbia's achievements in terms of gender equality, digitalization, science and sports.
In the part dedicated to the ties with Japan and marking 140 years of friendship between the two countries, Ambassador Kovač gave a detailed presentation on the history of bilateral relations, with an emphasis on cooperation and mutual solidarity between the two nations in difficult times of wars and natural disasters.
Embassy associate Tijana Nagato presented the natural beauty and tourist attractions of Serbia, as well as folk customs and national cuisine.
The participants showed interest in examples of solidarity and friendship between Serbia and Japan, Serbian literature, etc.
The prestigious Tojo Eiwa Women's University was founded in 1884 by Canadian Christian missionaries, and today more than 3,000 female students attend several faculties of social science and humanities and postgraduate programs.
