Tokyo: Ambassador Kovač with the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan
In a courtesy meeting, the ambassador shared the expectation that the celebration of the 140th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Serbia will serve as an opportunity to further improve the bilateral relations between the two countries.
She stated that the long period of friendship between the two countries was imbued with various challenges, emphasizing that it was precisely the solidarity between the two nations, manifested in very difficult moments of wars and natural disasters, that inspired closer contacts between Serbia and Japan.
On that occasion, the ambassador expressed gratitude to Japan on various assistance mechanisms, reminding that the strengthening of bilateral political dialogue contributed to the increase of Japanese investments and consequentially the economic growth of Serbia.
Ambassador Kovač assessed Japan's support provided for Serbia's European integration process and through the framework of the Initiative for Cooperation with the Western Balkans as encouraging, stressing that Serbia remained committed to her European path and had strong ongoing dedication to preserve and promote peace and stability in the region.
