Tokyo: Ambassador Kovač attends the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the city of Fujimi
In her speech, Ambassador Kovač reminded that this year we are celebrating 140 years of friendship between Serbia and Japan, as well as 40 years since the twinning of Fujimi and Šabac, and thanked Mayor Hoshin and his associates for many years of valuable efforts to strengthen ties with Šabac and its citizens.
Expressing regret over the impossibility of the Šabac delegation's personal presence due to the pandemic measures in force in Japan, she pointed out that Šabac and Fujimi in their long history of fraternal relations showed great solidarity in difficult times for both countries, especially in 2011 after the great earthquake in the Tōhoku region, as well as in 2014, after the catastrophic floods that hit Šabac and Serbia.
Referring to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Ambassador Kovač spoke highly of the excellent conditions for preparations and expressed gratitude for the cordiality, and hospitality that our wrestling team encountered during its stay in Fujimi, which, among other things, contributed to winning the medal.
The Governor of Saitama Prefecture, Motohiro Ono, Parliament Speaker Saitama Shinici Nakayashi, Parliament Speaker Fujimi Takahiro Saito, Deputy Mayor Yoshiaki Asai, and Kawagoe Mayor Yoshiaki Kawai also spoke at the event, with a large number of Japanese MPs and mayors a large number of Saitama prefecture cities were in attendance as well.
A video greeting card from the mayor of Šabac, Aleksandar Pajić, was also played at the event.
