Seoul: Ambassador Grbić meets with the President of the National Information Society Agency (NIA)
The speakers stated that the field of information and communication technologies was singled out as one of the most fruitful fields of cooperation between the two countries, which is not surprising, considering that the Republic of Korea is one of the global leaders in digitalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the digitalisation of the public administration one of the priorities for the Republic of Serbia.
Special recognition was given to the successful realization of the project of the Serbian-Korean Information Access Centre in Belgrade – SKIP, which facilitated the increase in digital literacy and training of about 40,000 participants in the previous years, with over 1,500 free IT trainings and courses. It was pointed out that the opening of the second SKIP centre in the Republic of Serbia in Nis, planned by the end of this year, will further improve Serbia's capacities in this area, making it the only country in the region with two SKIP centres, which is a clear indicator of excellent cooperation between the two countries.
President Moon reflected on his stay in Serbia a few years ago, stating that cooperation with our country in the field of information and communication technologies has great potential, which should be used.
He pointed out that the National Agency for Information Society of the Republic of Korea will continue to provide full support to e-government projects in Serbia, not only when it comes to SKIP centres, but also within the project implemented with the Office for IT and e-Government of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. He also said that the Agency shall continue with their efforts in promoting Serbia to Korean companies as a destination suitable for investment cooperation, and expressed the readiness of the NIA to help organize webinars to connect Serbian and Korean companies.
