Sendai: Ambassador Kovač visited Tohoku Gakuin University in Sendai

The interlocutors welcomed last year's signing of an agreement between this educational institution and the University of Belgrade, as the first institution of higher education in the eastern part of Europe with which Tohoku Gakuin University has established partnership relations.

The initial steps in the realisation of the student exchange programme were positively assessed and the possibilities for studying the Serbian language at this University were considered.

Ambassador Kovač underlined the importance of academic cooperation for strengthening ties between Serbia and Japan during 140 years of bilateral relations and, in that regard, emphasised the role of respectable professor Michitaka Suzuki, an expert on Serbian medieval cultural heritage, who had great merits for establishing cooperation between the two universities.
