Rome: Cooperation between Serbia and Italy in the field of cinematography

Within the Rome International Film Festival, a panel on the topic of the improvement of cooperation in the field of film industry and co-production between Serbia and Italy was held.

Beside the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Rome, Goran Aleksić, on the panel also participated: Special Adviser to the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, Rade Vojnović; Director of the Film Centre of Serbia, Gordan Matić; Organiser of the Italian Serbian Film Festival in Belgrade, Gabriella Carlucci; President of the Iervolino Studios, Peter Nalli; President of the Lazio Film Commission, Luciano Sovena; and Miroljub Vučković from the Film Centre of Serbia.

Ambassador Aleksić pointed to the significant investment in the film industry implemented through opening of the Iervolino Film Studio in Serbia, as well as interest in entering into a new bilateral agreement with Italy on cooperation in the field of cinematography and co-production in the near future.

Special Adviser Vojnović presented in detail possibilities for foreign minority co-production as regards subsidies and different forms of incentive measures. He highlighted that in the period from 2016 to 2022, EUR 53.31 million were allocated for 286 projects, while only in the current year, until month of July, 29 projects worth EUR 14.49 million were approved.

Nalli said that the Lazio Co-production Fund has been active for eight years and disposes of annual budget in the amount of EUR 10 million. He assessed that Serbia is an important partner from the Balkans, which in the future may occupy an even more important place.

This event was an opportunity for establishing direct contacts between the interested Italian production companies with the representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Film Centre of Serbia.
