Lubumbashi: Ambassador Jevtić visits the Upper Katanga province

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Kinshasa Miroljub Jevtić has visited Lubumbashi, the capital of the Upper Katanga province, for the purpose of opening an honorary consulate of the Republic of Serbia. He was accompanied by Mr Alex Ngwulu, a candidate for the office of honorary consul.
Ambassador Jevtić was received by the President of the provincial Assembly, Mr Catheter Ngoy Michel who expressed great pleasure with Serbia wishing to open an honorary consulate in Lubumbashi. President Ngoy Michel noted the great commercial and political importance of the Upper Katanga province which housed the most significant cooper, cobalt, coltan, zinc, magnesium, gold, and diamond mines.
President Ngoy Michel also said that he viewed the opening of an honorary consulate as the first step towards the establishment of a comprehensive cooperation between the Upper Katanga province and Serbia. He suggested the Serbian Chamber of Commerce open an office in DR Congo.
