Radovanović added that about 36,000 Serbs live in that part of Germany, in the province of Hessen, and emphasized that the highest level of search for victims and missing persons has been introduced.
"A large number of places were cut off from the world, the storms affected three provinces, brought 240 liters of rain per square meter, while the average for the month of July is 85 liters. Movement is restricted in all directions, the electricity network is down, and all rescue services are engaged", the consul said.
According to him, the water disaster affected households and institutions, there is no sailing on the river Rhine, and railway and road traffic are interrupted.
Consul Radovanović pointed out that rescuers from all over Germany were engaged and that he was sure that the entire EU would be involved in repairing the consequences.
