Frankfurt: Meeting of Consul General Radovanović with the Minister of Education of the German State of Rheinland-Palatinate
Emphasising the importance of preserving linguistic and cultural identity, as well as knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet for students of Serbian origin, the Consul General thanked the Minister for the exceptional understanding that her Ministry and she personally have shown towards the Serbian community in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Knowledge of one's mother tongue is a comparative advantage in the 21st century in a multilingual society such as FR Germany, Radovanović pointed out.
Minister Hubig expressed her interest in the position of the Serbian community in Rhineland-Palatinate, and expressed her willingness to cooperate with the General Consulate in the matter of exchanging experience between the teachers of Serbian supplementary classes and the Pedagogical State Institute.
The Minister also anticipated possible participation of Serbian supplementary classes' teachers in the Institute's pedagogical seminars.
The meeting was also attended by coordinator of Serbian supplementary education Biljana Bukinac, who explained to the Minister the model of Serbian supplementary education implemented in the province of Hessen and throughout Europe, with the assistance and funds of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.
Minister Hubig thanked the Consul General and coordinator Bukinac for a very useful and productive meeting, at which the importance of cooperation between institutions of the two countries was highlighted in order to establish the highest quality teaching programme and meet the needs of the citizens who live in that area.
