Đurić: The relations between Serbia and the United States of America are on the right track and can only grow further

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States of America Marko Đurić stated that the relations between Serbia and the United States of America were on the right track and that he believed that they could only grow further, as well as that he was witnessing that first-hand in the daily communication with the representatives of the American administration in Washington.

In an interview with “Srpski Telegraf”, Ambassador Đurić said that Serbia and the United States of America had established a high level of respect and understanding regarding the majority of bilateral issues, that they were exchanging positive messages, and that the cooperation was developing more and more every day in many areas.

Ambassador Đurić stated that the tragedy in Ukraine was affecting the global geopolitical trends as well as the international relations among almost all countries and stressed that Serbia was investing its efforts and energy to continue, and even increase, the upward trajectory of relations with Washington in the difficult times for entire Europe, because, as he stated, that was Serbia`s desire and interest.

According to him, the cooperation with U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill was excellent, adding that Ambassador Hill understood the position of Serbia and was actively working on deepening and strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Đurić announced that the Serbian Embassy in Washington would soon officially move to a new building, located only a few hundred meters from the White House and representing a historic building owned by former U.S. Secretary of State Elihu Root, which had been acquired permanently as the property of the Serbian state.
