Canberra: Ambassador Stefanović in his first official visit to Queensland
During his stay in Brisbane, Ambassador Stefanović met with Governor of the Federal State of Queensland JeannetteYoung, representative of the Parliament James Martin, representatives of various sectors of the Government, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Queensland.
The Ambassador also met with Councillor Petar Matić, Deputy Chair of the Brisbane City Council, born in Belgrade.
They discussed the economy, position of the Serbian community in Australia and prospective cooperation in the field of preserving national identity and culture, as well as opportunities for economic cooperation and investments by Queensland -based companies in Serbia.
Ambassador Stefanović also visited the Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas in Brisbane where, after attending the evening service, he held a joint meeting with representatives of the Serbian community from Brisbane and the surrounding area. At the meeting, current issues of interest to the Serbian community in Queensland were discussed, with a special emphasis on the establishment of supplementary schools of the Serbian language, as part of the system of the Ministry of Education of Serbia.
