Canberra: Ambassador Stefanović with Bishop Siluan of Australia and New Zealand
The Ambassador and the Bishop discussed important topics concerning the Serbian community in Australia, with a brief overview of the activities carried out in the previous period, and exchanged information about the plans for the current year.
The Ambassador informed Bishop Siluan about the Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and Australia, which has been negotiated for several years. It was assessed that signing of the agreement represented an important indicator of the intensification of relations between the two countries, as well as that it had particular significance for the members of the Serbian community in Australia.
In the context of preserving national and cultural identity and developing stronger and permanent ties with the home country, the importance of supplementary schools of Serbian language and culture in Australia was also discussed, as well as the importance of St Sava College in Varroville.
