State Secretary Antić gave letters of appreciation to our Slovakian friends for their efforts in preserving the memory of Serbs who had perished there, and in improving the cooperation between the two countries.
The Veľký Meder (Nagymegyer) concentration camp is notable for the number of Serbs who perished there. A cemetery lies there today, where almost 6,000 Serbian soldiers are buried. There were 21,000 prisoners in this concentration camp. It was the first concentration camp to be created during World War One, in August 2014, and it ceased to exist in October 2018.
